All training starts from the ground, from simple things like daily handling to more athletic activities like jumping and piaffe. Often the horse will find it easier to learn new things with the handler working from the ground, and once the movement has been established through groundwork the horse will be better able to accomplish the movement under saddle. Groundwork is also invaluable for introducing horses to new things (here Honey is learning about tarps), and can give them confidence in strange situations.
